I am Dr. Abhishek Kumar, with a strong academic, teaching, and research background in VLSI Design for Circuits and Systems. I am currently serving as a Research Fellow at the University of Limerick, Ireland. My academic and research journey has been driven by a deep interest in semiconductor technology, VLSI design, hardware security, and innovative digital and analog circuit architectures.
My primary research interests include VLSI Design, low-power CMOS VLSI circuits, hardware security, ASIC-FPGA systems, and emerging semiconductor technologies. I also have extensive experience with both front-end and back-end Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, enabling me to work across different stages of the VLSI design and implementation flow. My technical expertise includes the use of industry-standard and open-source EDA tools for circuit design, simulation, verification, synthesis, physical design, and analysis.
I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Institution of Engineers, followed by an M.Tech. in Electronics Engineering from VJTI, University of Mumbai. I subsequently pursued my Ph.D. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Lovely Professional University. Over the course of my academic career, I have accumulated approximately 15 years of experience as a professor, along with extensive experience in teaching, research, student mentoring, and academic activities.
My publication portfolio reflects my sustained contribution to research and academic scholarship. I have published more than 30 papers in indexed journals and 14 conference papers, along with 26 book chapters. In addition, I have contributed to 14 authored and edited books. My professional achievements include a granted patent and 6 registered copyrights with the Indian Patent Office. These contributions demonstrate my commitment not only to academic research and publication but also to translating research ideas into innovative and protectable technological outcomes.
As an academician and researcher, I am particularly interested in interdisciplinary research that connects VLSI circuits and systems with emerging technologies such as hardware security, artificial intelligence, neuromorphic computing, and advanced semiconductor devices. I believe that effective research should address both fundamental challenges and practical engineering requirements.
My long-term objective is to contribute to the development of next-generation VLSI circuits and systems through innovative, energy-efficient, secure, and high-performance design methodologies. I am also committed to mentoring students and young researchers, promoting research-oriented learning, and building strong collaborations between academia and the semiconductor industry.
