Jeannie Fitzgerald
Project Title: Mammography
Position: Post doc researcher

Jeannie is a post doc researcher with the BDS group and is currently contributing on a research project focused on developing a robust and accurate Stage 1 Detector for Brest Cancer. Her research interests include Evolutionary Computation (EC) and Machine Learning (ML) , where she has a particular interest in individualised/memetic and self-adaptive methods in EC, and the development and investigation of hybrid EC/ML approaches for solving complex classification problems.

Jeannie has reviewed for the following journals:

  • Metaheuristics – Methods and Application. (De Gruyter)

Dr. Jeannie Fitzgerald graduated from University of Limerick in 2000 with a first class honours degree in Computer Systems. For the next 8 years she worked in industry, initially for two years, in the research and development department of a large telecommunications research company . For the next six years Jeannie worked with TQS Integration where she progressed to various lead roles in the delivery of solutions in real-time data aggregation, data analytics , data visualization and reporting , for a variety of large blue chip companies in Ireland and elsewhere.

In 2009 Jeannie returned to the University of Limerick to embark on a PhD which was completed in the middle of 2014. Later that year she rejoined the BDS group as a post doc researcher.
